Setup Time
Setup requires
2 people for efficiency. This involves moving cameras to most
efficient position based on capture type, performing a test run
similar those required by the client to find out any potential
problems. Markers are organised to reflect type of capture, and
a test shoot is performed.
Summary
Best Case: Capture requires standard area, little if any modification.
Worst: Capture requires conversion from max volume to minimum
volume, lifting cabling & floor and multiple test runs.

On Day
of Capture – Prep Times & Breaks
The times
documented are basic requirements on the day of capture. Discussions
with actors/directors are an important part of the shoot, making
both aware of limits/restrictions of the system, and allowing
time for breaks, lunch and the inevitable daily computer failure.

Shooting the Actor:
One average moves are approx 15 – 25 seconds, most moves take (currently)
about 3 ½ mins to shoot. Each move is covered at least twice, and
usually a maximum of four repetitions. A capture session requires
a minimum of two people. (Comp. Operator and Director / Advisor.)
Factors influencing time taken per move:
Actor familiarity, confidence & performance & direction times.
Director ability.
Team organisation, skill and experience.

Tracking a Move
Tracking time varies with move difficulty.
Easy (10 – 20M per file)
Walking, Waving, Simple gestures. No or minimal covering of the
body. No or minimal data cleaning required.
Medium (30M – 2H )
Slight or some coverage of body. Rapid arm movements, eg shadow
boxing, fighting. Poor calibration due to objects (eg. virtual
set) in capture area, or use of props. Some cleanup required.
Hard ( 4H - 1 DAY) Rolling,
swimming, dying, crawling / nature of capture problematic. (eg.
props. or camera knocked, multiple actors with weapons.) Cleanup
essential, and some virtual markers reqd.
V Hard (1DAY – 4 DAYS) May
require help from MAC or nature & difficulty of capture forces
large amounts of time to track. Intense cleanup. Tracker's sanity
at risk.
Number of files an uninterupted, experienced tracker can process
in one day. This assumes tracker is working on the same actor/shoot.

Summary
- Files / day
EASY - MEDIUM = 15 - 25
MEDIUM+ = 7 – 8
HARD = 2 – 3
VHARD = 0 - 1
